Mission Compromised
Item Description
From Oliver North, bestselling author, combat-decorated military hero, and devoted patriot, comes a blisteringly authentic novel of duty, treason, corrupted truth, and stolen honor -- a breathtaking adventure ripped from today's headlines.
Major Peter Newman, U.S.M.C., has always answered his country's call -- but now he's being asked to prove his loyalty as never before. Named as head of the White House Special Projects Office, Newman is given an assignment that is essential to his nation's future: to hunt down and eliminate the world's most dangerous terrorists before they can unleash terrifying weapons of mass destruction on the U.S. Only a handful of the Washington elite know of his covert mission, and undertaking it will place Peter Newman in the center of a raging maelstrom of intrigue, revenge, lies, and ultimate betrayal, pitting one man against devastating forces that could destroy everything he holds dear.

Starts Slowly but Ends With a Punch

I was given this book by a friend who thought I might be interested. After a few months I began reading it on a whim. It started out slow, primarily becuase Mr. North was developing his characters, which you later become attached to (especially in the following books in this series). From a detail and fact standpoint, Mr. North hits is on the head. I agree with another review that a beter editor may have improved upon the flow of the story.
It's a long book and I approached that dreaded 100 page mark: do I continue or not? FOrtunately I had built up enough momentum by that stage and the book was extremely good from there on. I was so drawn in that I immediately ordered the next two book of the trilogy upon completion of Mission Compromised.
I would recommend this for those interested in modern military (post 1980) and Christianity. I applaud Mr. North for boldly inserting a strong Christian message into his stories.
Good "War" thriller

Oliver North is like Vince Flynn, without the language. Like the other books North wrote, this is a page turning, bad guy thumping, USMC dominating feast! I read these out of order, but they still were great reading, even when you knew some of the outcome from the later books. Very intriguing plot, and plenty of action! If you like thrillers of the military type, this will keep you reading!

I wanted to like this... I really did but I can't get past page 203. They haven't even left on the mission yet. The first 200 pages could have been edited down to 20 pages. I am going to use the worst word to describe an action thriller.... 'boring'.
I LEARNED QUITE A BIT FROM THIS BOOK 5 STARS

This was one of the fastest books I've ever read in my life and I am a hopeless book addict. I just could not put it down!
I highly recommend it to everyone who likes books, especially people like myself who LOVE to learn new things from reading. I also read for entertainment, of course, but I am especially happy when I buy a book and learn new things from it. One of the top 5 things I love most.
I can't wait to finish reading the rest of his books and I'm sure that will be done by this summer, heh.
His candor is remarkable and his ability and very kind and thoughtful willingness (via glossaries and appendixes, etc.) to NOT confuse the reader but instead help the reader along and to understand everything shows what a great guy he is in real life. Too many authors don't both with that at all. Many don't even bother with maps.
Not to speak ill of the dead (may he rest in peace) but Reagan and the rest of all those COWARDS should be haunted and ashamed for all eternity for what they did to this man, his family, friends and literally everyone who ever came into contact with him - LITERALLY. They threw him under the bus. Now they have to live with that on their conscience - the several that MAY have one.
I give this book 5 stars - plus another 5.
Awsome seller!

I was half-way through this audio book when the third of six tapes broke. I checked Amazon, of course, for an audio tape to finish this story. The seller shipped my new book out quickly and before I knew it, my replacement book had arrived. I would recommend this seller to any friend of mine and I will look for their books in the future.
