Item Description

Sarah Palin has many faces: hockey mom, fundamentalist Christian, sex symbol, Republican ideologue, fashion icon, "maverick" populist. But, above all, Palin has become one thing: an American obsession that just won't go away. Edited by two senior editors at The Nation magazine, this sharp, smart, up-to-the-minute book examines Palin's obscure origins in Wasilla, Alaska, her spectacular rise to the effective leadership of the Republican Party, and the nightmarish prospect of her continuing to dominate the nation's political scene.

This is an awful book. Not worth reading, In the last chapter the author states she wanted to trick people with the cover. She is capitalizing on Sarah Palin popularity.

1 stars Not Sarah Palin's book 2010-08-23

Releasing a book with the SAME title as a recent best seller to dupe people into buying the wrong version reveals the character of the people behind this book.

1 stars Yet another semi-literary temper-tantrum from a closed, far-left mind 2010-06-27

Taking potshots at one of our strongest heroines during a time when the U.S. needs every decent politician it has is practically treason. Politicians like Palin take their duties seriously, unlike nearly all of the incumbents who have proven to be self-serving thieves and/or socialists determined to destroy our country. While most politicians are working together to place the U.S. working class into financial slavery and planning what to wear to their fat-cat celebration of the last days of freedom for the U.S.A., the few true public servants are struggling to awaken the U.S. to an attack of which too many are unaware.

Books like this are just one more weapon in the arsenal used to pull us and our country apart. In this time of governmental deception and betrayal, I would much rather read about the few remaining politicians who, like Palin, are working diligently to lead us out of danger and back to living in the Republic our Founding Fathers built for us. There is no reason to waste time or money on this riff trash.

If you want a worthwhile read, I suggest: 48 Liberal Lies About American History: (That You Probably Learned in School)

5 stars Bought for my 77 year old mom 2010-05-25

I bought this for my mom, in South Carolina, for Christmas. She thought it was the other one when she opened and she is very polite but was happy when I pointed out is was Going Rouge. My parents are the extinct type of republicans - socially liberal and fiscally conservative. They held their noses and voted for McCain/Palin in the last election mostly because they didn't know anything about Palin. I spoke with my mom yesterday and she is in the middle of reading the book and commented that it is frightening that this woman was actually on the ticket. This is a great book for rational readers who haven't yet been exposed to the truth about Palin.

We can only hope that Palin runs in 2012 - but unfortunately, I think she's just being a tease to milk more $$$ from her groupies.

5 stars Super valuable reference. 2010-05-06

I'm really kind of a Sarah Palin fan. And I thought that the media treated her horribly and I remember reading articles that stated that she wasn't a woman (couldn't be because she didn't have all the correct attitudes on abortion, etc.). I also remember reading an article that stated that the republican plan was to get John McCain elected and he would conveniently die because he's so old and then Sarah would take over and turn the US into a police state. This article actually stated that if the republicans won 2008 would be the last election in american history. I think that crediting the McCain campaign with any kind of actual.... plan is giving them way too much credit.

Anyway, this book puts a lot of the negative reporting on Sarah together in one place and for that I find it to be quite valuable. I'm sure that that was not the intent of the publisher, but there you have it.
