What Should Conservatives Do in the Age of Obama?
Two Words: Fight Back

President Obama ran on promises of bipartisanship and centrism, but he’s delivered something else: unprecedented government borrowing and spending, unsustainable debt, and audacious attempts to usher in a colossal, overbearing government, the likes of which we’ve never seen.

In Right Now, Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele blows the whistle on the entire Obama agenda. Setting aside appeals for caution in taking on a popular president, Steele throws down the gauntlet, insisting Republicans must expose and refute the policies lying at the heart of this administration’s attempts to resurrect a discredited brand of extreme liberalism.

A call to arms for grassroots America, this book argues for abandoning “conservatism-lite,” returning to core conservative principles, and launching an uncompromising campaign for limited government. The path to a Republican renaissance has already been laid, says Steele: the target is the Obama agenda, the method is active opposition, and the time is Right Now.

5 stars a great book all americans need to read this 2010-05-19

A very great book. It was a real eye opener to me. I would recommend it highly to every american. It really goes in depth on how the obama administration is destroying our economy, spending tax dollars wastefully, the truth about where the democratic and republican parties stand today, and much much more.

5 stars Serves as a model for the modern right 2010-05-14

Barack Obama has proven to be a highly divisive individual with his policies. "Right Now: A 12-Step Program for Defeating the Obama Agenda" is a political call to arms from Chairman of the Republican National Committee, Michael Steele. He states that modern conservatives need to mobilize against Obama's policies and offers ideas to campaign against many of his positions. A read for conservatives who oppose Obama on almost every level, "Right Now" serves as a model for the modern right.

5 stars great book, great mind, great American! 2010-04-08

Michael Steele is to be commended for writing a clear and concise book about AMERICAN ideals and philosophy. I was captivated by this book; read it in one sitting. I encourage Mr. Steele to remain strong in his convictions! America needs statesmen of his caliber at this time in history. I hope he stays on as chairman. I hope he will write again. I'll be looking forward to more from this amazing American!

5 stars 'Cause mama I'm sure hot to handle, RIGHT NOW 2010-03-30

I've just begun reading RIGHT NOW, but already I can tell this is not your typical self-serving political memoir.

Michael Steele writes with the same no-holds barred abandon that has distinguished his efforts to revitalize the Grand Ole Party with an "off the hook" public relations offensive to attract younger voters, especially blacks and Hispanics, by applying the party's principles to "urban-suburban hip-hop settings."

I'm also fascinated that the GOP is now appealing to younger donors like the Young Eagles, by staging fund-raising events at hip nightclubs, like Voyeur in West Hollywood, where impromptu bondage and S&M 'scenes' are played out on an elevated platform by scantily clad performers, where the furniture includes chairs detailed with the metal hardware and bondage straps of leather fetishists, where there is also a heavy net suspended above the club's lounge area where performers writhe above the heads of club-goers.

Gosh! Talk about trickle-down economics!

I'm just worried that I may not be able to finish this book ... already the pages are getting stuck together.

Right Now: A 12-Step Program For Defeating The Obama Agenda

Although I've liked Michael Steele from the first time I saw him on TV I was still very hesitant of what philosophy this would embrace. Some form of progressivism with a dose of pragmatism was feared but to my great surprise and immense pleasure I found a defender of Individualism who is also the head of the RNC! Who knew! I believe that no one has freedom if a single individual is denied his or her rights. I was (am) very influenced by the writings of Ayn Rand (Atlas Shrugged, The Fountainhead, etc.). This is a man who, if he chose to run for President I would not only support but actively campaign for (something I've never done). If you believe that America's greatness and her future freedom and prosperity lies in the philosophy of and respect for the individual than this is a must read for you. I do not consider myself a Republican (they are often worse because they claim to support capitalism and freedom yet are too often incapable of doing so and take actions that are against individualism). I am an Individualist. If you are I think you too will be presently surprised by this refreshing book.

Mr. Steel asks what principle should be the foundation for debate and answers it as follows, "But what should that principle be? Does one stand out more than others? Yes it does: individual rights."
